JRuth Programs

JRuth Programs include:

Housing Placement

The Housing Placement Program allows individuals and small families to receive safe and affordable shelter at minimal cost. JRuth works in partnership with several property owners and provides a housing director/manager who helps participants reach and maintain their housing and personal goals.

For those who wish to own a home, JRuth can work with you to develop a plan. To date, two families have received the Non-Traditional Mortgage Home-Ownership Grant.

JRuth Manor

JRuth Manor is a transitional home where individuals receive support services and experience "life as a family." JRuth Manor is supervised by our Housing Director/Manager-- Subrina Byas.

The disciplined structure of family life at JRuth Manor offers residents the guidance and support they need to become self-sufficient members of this community. JRuth Manor collaborates with several local organizations to provide a safe haven for those in need. We are a furnished facility. Our housing committee is dedicated to assisting you in providing family and self-sufficiency.

Employment

JRuth's Employment program works with local businesses to provide participants with job referrals and training opportunities. JRuth offers classes on employ-ability, interviewing, and in building skills in resume writing to assist people in their job search.

JRuth does not discriminate against any willing applicant, and thus has developed "offender friendly" partnerships, matching qualified individuals, who need a second chance, with employers who are willing to give it.

Self-Sufficiency

JRuth's Self-Sufficiency program consists of educational classes with curriculum designed for personal growth and development. Current classes include: Directions By Reflection; FDIC Money Smart Financial Literacy Series; Balanced Living & Smart Saving; Grant Writing 101; Employ-ability Skills; Assertiveness Training and Personal Growth and Development; Entrepreneurship & Small Business Training. Some of these classes are offered in partnership other local institutions, such as Durham Technical Community College and Good Work, Inc.
